My Favourite Architecture

My favourite architectural style is Art Nouveau and my favourite examples of this are in Brussels and Vienna. Here are masterpieces by Gustave Strauven and Paul Cauchie and the master himself - Victor Horta:

The above was my favourite architecture until I visited Barcelona earlier this year! Now it's Gaudi and the Sagrada Familia - the most amazing building I have ever experienced (it's not enough just to see it!). More photos here.

Here is the Secession building and Hundertwasser Haus. Vienna is home to many works of my favourite painter Klimt:

The Brighton Pavilion also holds some masterpieces but I'm not sure what the style is!

Further afield, there's the Sydney Opera House - an amazing building! In this view it looks like a ship sailing off into the harbour:

and Sacre Coeur in Paris:

Going further back, I love the perpendicular gothic style before it became too flamboyant. The flowering of this in England was in Kings College Chapel, Cambridge, or the cloisters of Gloucester cathedral. It's a shame that Henry VIII had the effect of putting a stop to religious architectural development in England after this date (and for such selfish motives):
